Hornby Class 37 Sound Decoder

Just thought I would give Hornby some credit for once. I received their latest class 37 TTS sound decoder. Fitted it in my old Bachmann class 37 loco with an 8 pin socket, ok the speaker is too big, but aren't they all. The sound is really impressive, so very happy.

I have always been impressed by their TTS tractor.

Especially the new ECS (extended cold start) feature found on all recent TTS releases.

Previously by pressing F9 (cold start - CS) before F1 (sound on) the decoder would run through a fixed duration CS routine before settling down to idle.

With the latest TTS decoders pressing F9 (ECS) before F1 runs the decoder through a random set of ‘failing to start‘ loops. This random routine continues until either you deselect F1 when the loco shuts down or you deselect F9 when the loco will finally start up and settle at idle.

It is easy to check which cold start your decoder has by checking to see if a cold start automatically ends at idle (old CS version) or if you have to deselect it to get to idle (New ECS)
