david_rhoades
I have about 30 of these Gresley coaches in three different liveries. All were purchased from retail model shops, never from shows or other sources. It has been alleged that "all Horby fine detail coaches come with alternate couplings". Not one of the coaches I have has any additional couplings included, have I been duped?11x R42*** BR Maroon10x R41*** LNER Teak10x R41*** BR Crimson & Cream
2e0dtoeric
It depends on how old they are! If they pre-date NEM sockets, they won't HAVE alternate couplings.
VESPA
I doubt it very much. I have a collection of Britannias and several came without the flanged rear bogie wheels. I just think it is the poor quality control in the Chinese factories. Two of my Brit's were direct from Hornby as specials and one had no whistle and the other bent valve gear and the tender ladder loose at the bottom. As nice and detailed as they are they are not always perfect or complete. Your batch of coaches may have been delberately shipped that way as at that time that was the spec supplied by Hornby and nothing to do with the factory. new lad on block
Hi david_rhoades, some of the models you mentioned date from 2004 / 2006.If my memory saves me right I think that was before the arrival of Hornby Nem couplings. Some of the later R45 ** variations may be available with alternative couplings as they date from 2012/13.
