CHRIS UDDIN
Could anyone help me with a problem please?, I have a Hornby class 86 R2290A & B, and I'm trying to find out if they had 3 pole or 5 pole motors as I don't know, would you know and if not how could I find out??, I believe the locos came out in 2002. Many Thanks to all. I've since found out that they had ringfield motors but that does help any - are they 3, 5 or nothing at all, many thanks. Tony57
According to my Ramsey they have 3 pole ringfield motors. In the discription header it says 5 pole motors were fitted from 2004
walkingthedog
I have checked the service sheet on here and it looks like 2290A/B/C are 3 pole. 2290D is 5 pole.
Going Spare
A quick easy determinant is the colour of the plastic transfer gears: if they are black - it is 3-pole, if they are grey - it is 5-pole. The only exception that I have come across is the 5-pole version of the 28xx which had black gears.GS
