downloading rail-master evaluation unto my iPad.

Could anyone tell me how i could download the rail-master evaluation onto my ipad.  I have the upgrade version on my PC and would like to get it on my ipad. over the next few weeks i intend to also upgrade to the pro as well. Thanks, Oliver.

You do not install the RailMaster or RailMasterPro application onto your iPad....so trying to download the evaluation copy of RM onto an iPad is a fruitless exercise as RailMaster will only run on a Windows operating system.

To use an iPad with RM. You have to have a fully installed and working copy of RM running on a Windows PC. It is the PC that is connected to and controlling your layout via a compatible hardware controller (eLink or Elite). You then download an APP onto the iPad that connects via your home Wi-fi to the PC running RM.

The Apple APP is, in principle, just a hand held throttle that remotely controls the RailMaster application to operate your layout.

In order to download the APP onto your iPad you need to read the instructions contained in the 'HandHeld' user guide PDF that RailMaster will install on your Windows RailMaster PC.

Allthough some users have got the iPad working to an acceptable level of control, by far the majority on this forum have given up on trying to get the iPad APP working flawlessly with RailMaster. Many forum iPad users recommend using a 'free to download' application called 'TeamViewer'. With TeamViewer you install a small utility on the RailMaster PC and a complimentary TeamViewer APP on the iPad. The TeamViewer APP on the iPad then mirrors the PC screen display and mouse & keyboard control. Thus, with RM running full screen on the PC, the RM screen is then mirrored on the iPad and the iPad has control of it.

The IPad App is a lot better since the last upgrade. At least we can once more zoom and scroll the plan.

 

TeamViewer is ok if you only want one person to control the layout as you are still only controlling the PC . With the IPad App you control items on the layout independently, although through the computer, so two people can run locos and change points etc independently. If you link more than one IPad (up to 8) more people can take control.
