Cantabrigian
I recently tried to start up my Bachman Class 25 which has an ESU Locksound v4 decoder.Im using the Hornby Select controller with updated firmware. All the sounds work as normal, but when I apply throttle, the address (06 in this case) just starts flashing on the Select screen , and the loco no longer moves. It had been running fine , and all other locos are functional. So I assume the issue is with this specific loco.Does anyone know what the flashing display signifies? Thank you

jane1707819582
Does the select loco I'd flash without the loco on the track ?
96RAF
Sarah has prompted a memory cell in my dull brain. You say your Select is has been updated - do you see 16 or 20 at start up, which indicates the very latest firmware capable of programming CVs.If so - you are in programming mode and the Select is waiting for an input. At some point you have long pressed Select and entered CV programming mode.Read the addendum for the Select update. If you do not have it then it can be downloaded from the manual area.If you are not at the latest revision then all bets are off for now until I read the applicable manual again. Cantabrigian
Hello again RAF96 and Jane2Thanks for your responses.Yes I had Hornby update the FW last year. So it flashes 16 and then 30 when I power up.I can then select any of my other locos as normal, but if I choose 06 for my Class 25, I can control sound but the 06 flashes the moment I turn the throttle.Jane2 asked if this happens even without the loco on the track, and the answer is YES. So I do believe that RAF96 may be on to something with the programme mode suggestion My 2 year old grandson has been with me for 5 weeks of lockdown and we’ve been “playing trains” a lot. He has a habit of pressing any available button. If you are correct, how do I get out of that mode? Powering off the Select does not seem to help? Many thanks.peter
Chrissaf
The Select 1.6 addendum manual infers you press the 'CANCEL' button./media/tinymce_upload/b4e7f30c46ddd97e3cd6ee3aa860520d.jpg
96RAF
Power off and power back up again with the Select disconnected from the track. This should boot it to the 03 screen. Then its business as usual. If you still have problems try to see of there is a button stuck by clicking each button several times listening for a definite click. The buttons press on a simple metal triangular contact plate which springs as you press it like those old clicker toys. If the buttons are OK try a Select reset per the manual addendum. Cantabrigian
My thanks to RAF96, Jane2 and Crissaf for the input. You correctly identified that I needed to reset the Select. I did this using the procedure in the 1.6 addendum , which requires the pushing of both direction buttons and stop button simultaneously . To Reset...1. While pressing both direction buttons, press and hold down the red “STOP” key.2. The display will now show “CS” (Indicating stand alone Command Station).3. Press the “Select” button. (The display will flash “-0” twice and then go steady). Now go to steps 4 or 5.4. If you don’t want to run an analogue loco (loco address 0) from your SELECT - Press the “Select” button now.- The red light will flash 5 times and the unit’s display will show “03”Reset is now complete5. If you have decided to enable analogue loco support.- While the display is showing “-0” press the “Function” button once.(The display will now show “0”)- Now press the “Select” button.- The red light will flash 5 times and the unit’s display will show “03” - Loco Zero functionality is now enabled.Reset is now complete. This cleared the issue and now everything is behaving normally.Great support. Much appreciated Peter
96RAF
Good - another odd fault sorted. You also noticed that at unit reset the loco zero option is set to off as default.
