Ratch
Hi allI am getting back in to modelling after manys years away from it and this time around I have found that Acrylic paints seems to be the choice of most modlers. My question is, Can you paint over Enamel with Acrylis paint and Vise Versa?

david_hughes2
You should probably try and test on a spare piece of plastic. The general rule was L-E-A Lacquer, enamel, acrylicThis means that you would not normally put a lacquer over an enamel becuase the solvents used are nuch 'hotter' than enamel solvents and so on. Key word is 'normally' as each manufacturer uses differening solvents with their acrylics. Test if unsure.

Thanks David,I will try it out on a spare piece of plastic first and see how that pans out.I have found that some of the acrylic colours have been impossible to find anywhere, Like 162 Dark Green, its like hens teeth, but I have some in enamel. Thanks again
peebeep
If the layer you're over painting is fully gassed off there shouldn't be a problem, although my own way of resolving this is to overcoat with an inert clear coat. Old formula Klear is ideal.
