Flashbang Posted May 22, 2020 Share Posted May 22, 2020 Maximum permissible speed is set in each locos decoder. RAF96 is correct Top Volts (speed) is set by CV5. The basic Hornby R8249 nor the TTS sound decoders offer this CV option.If your decoder does allow CV5 and CV6 to be set, set CV5 to a lower value number to suit your chosen top speed at full throttle and then whatever you have set it to, set CV6 to between 1/3 and 1/2 of that in CV5. e.g. set CV5 to say 150, then CV6 is set to a value of no more than 75 and ideally around 60.
