Elink-Railmaster New Loco

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, I have had a look through the site and havent been able to find anything to help me.

I am new to DCC and I have railmaser and my elink. I purchased a second hand loco-Proto 2000 series HO Scale GP38-2 which was fitted with DCC decoder by previous owner. Decoder is a Viessmann 5246.

I have followed some instructions to add it to elink to no success. I dont know if I am doing it right but the DCC ID has been changed by previous owner so default DCC ID 3 isnt its code. Or I may be adding the loco wrong.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated and apologies if this is a very obvious one that is answered else where.

Thanks heaps

If you know the loco actual address list this when adding the loco into RM.

If you do not know the address write a new one of your choice to it in RM.

I just read the first dozen cvs and it came up with loco address 70 but it also said that the decoder chip cannot be found in the decoders data base.

Now you know the address just list the loco manually in RM with that address. It doesn’t matter if the decoder is not in the database, you can double click CV7 and see if its in the pull down list. If so select it, then RM will load the CV set applicable to that decoder. If not listed then carry on doing a manual listing.

When listing it make sure you list any functions it has connected, such as lights, etc.

Once listed under its known address it should then respond to commands.

@Hinri

These previous threads give a number of 'How To Tutorials' they are written for 'sound' locos, but just ignore the sound parts of the tutorial if not needed. You need to follow the Tutorial for 'Manually Adding a Loco'.
