R8118 TTS Class 20 [configuration in RailMaster]

Double click CV7 in the CV read / write configuration window, then select your TTS decoder type from the 'drop down' list that appears.

.

So no sound

.

However, selecting the correct decoder type in that window does not populate the sounds in the loco function list. That is done by calling up the R8118 number of the TTS decoder in the 'Locomotive Setting' screen. Or editing the function list manually if the R8118 number is not found. Remember that functions that need to 'lock on' need to have the text on/off added to the function label. Like for example "F0 Lights on/off" and/or "F1 Sound on/off" etc

It has nothing to do with the servicability state of the decoder. It is an RM decoder database thing.

RM is likely seeing the TTS decoder as a basic R8249 decoder and listing the CV set for that basic decoder.

Instead of letting RM determine the decoder type, double click on CV7 in the read table and pick Class 20 if listed or TTS diesel from the drop down list. The correct TTS set of CVs will be listed.

To get RM to operate sounds you have to list the loco in the RM roster as well as program an address into the decoder. If you cannot find  a Class 20 TTS loco in the search box then you can type in the functions by hand from the TTS leaflet listing, making sure that you add on/off to the end of each description for those functions that are toggled as opposed to spot play. Note that the description box is not infinite so you have to abridge the description at times.

Hi all from Australia.

Fitted a R8118 TTS bought locally, to a Class 33 Heljan - I know but I wanted something reasonably priced to approximate the sound of the Class 33.

Using Railmaster to programe the decoder.  However,  it is only recognised as a normal Hornby deocder to CV value 29.  All other CVs Railmater is showing up as not being used.  So no sound :(  Will operate on the mainline with the CVs that have been found.

Am I doing something wrong?  Or is it a dud decoder?

If I return it, I may only get my money back as the local supplier no longer stocks the decoder.

Addendum to my last reply:

Am I doing something wrong?

.

Most definitely .... see our two replies above.

.

If you need further 'How To' guidance, then these following threads cover the main aspects of adding and configuring locomotives in RailMaster.

.

For no loco found in the database, you need to follow the Tutorial for 'Manually Adding a Loco'. For 'non-sound' decoders, then just ignore the references to sound in the listed Tutorials.

PS - With reference my initial reply further above. If you are able to call up and select R8118 in the Locomotive Setting Screen. Then it may populate the image of a Class 20 locomotive in the RailMaster loco roster list, not the Class 33 you have fitted it to. All you then need to do, is find a suitable Class 33 image on the web and follow the instructions on how to use that image in my 'Manually adding a loco' thread link.

.

If the example Heljan Class 33 image below is suitable, then right click the image and use the 'save' option to save it your HDD. You could then use the image below in RM.
