tts sound decoder

A decoder is a decoder ... it really doesn't matter what loco it is put into. So subject to the normal caveats relating to physical space, and electrical current consumption suitability etc. Then there is no reason why a TTS 66 cannot go into a 67. Your question should really be "Are the sounds the 66 TTS decoder make suitable for a 67 loco?". To which the answer would be "It depends" ... it depends how much of a 'rivet counting purest' you are with regard to sounds made accuracy.

Listen to each class on u-tube to see if there are any characteristic differences, such as basic engine note at idle and upon acceleration, horns, various fans and valves, etc. Try to find a video of the startup sequence.

Both the 66 and 67 have the same version on the EMD 710 series engine and the same traction motors so they should be very similar. The exhaust set up does look slightly different though.....

As the guys above say, there may also be differences to the 'ancillary noises'.
