JemBobs
HelloI am trying to connect some headlights up to a Hornby R8249 Decoder. What wires do I connect the lights to?
Flashbang
HiThe R8249 is the basic Hornby loco deccoder. Therefore the Blue wire is common Positive to all lights and the White and Yellow are negative switched by F0 and are direction controlled too. The Green wire is controlled by F1 and the Purple wire by F2. Note the maximum current is 100milliamps (0.1Amp) per Function output on the decoder. 96RAF
In case you are in any doubt as to how to limit the current you must put a resistor or resistors in circuit to protect the leds from blowing. This gleaned from the decoder paperwork covering both 6 and 8-pin decoders... /media/tinymce_upload/ee372a4de06d712b6761c2b4c6db57a8.png
