Porkster
Is it possible to fit a sound decoder in the new Beatles Eurostar loco? If so, which decoder would you recommend and how would I go about it? ie which unit would you put it into?
96RAF
Hornby doesnt have a suitable sound decoder for that loco-set, so you will have to cast your net towards the more expensive full fat sound providers. It has been suggested a TTS decoder with a rousing chorus of ‘We all live on a yellow submarine, etc...’ would be a good spot sound for it, so the more folk who campaign Hornby for it the more chance there is of it happenning. Post your prefs in the Wishlist forum thread.
Going Spare
No doubt others will be along to advise on the decoder to use but as there is only the motor to control, the simplest type will suffice apart from the sound element. The motorised driving car will have a socket factory-fitted for the decoder but I envisage some degree of adaptation will be necessary to fit a speaker.Edit: RAF96 just beat me to it. Porkster
I live in NZ and wouldn’t have a clue what the Eurostar sounds like. Can anyone lead me toward the higher spec sound decoder that has a sound something similar to the prototype?
96RAF
Have a look at this forum topic...https://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/95217-biffos-class-373-twin-dcc-sound/ Biffos sound decode sets are first class but obviously a tad more expensive. SmarTrains
Can definitely recommend the Biffo sounds, I have an ESU LokSound running that in my Eurostar, and have added 2 cars and some internal lighting. About to upgrade to a mega bass speaker to complete the unit. The sounds are great.
