Accessory Decoder

been having some problems with the hornby R8216 & 8247 Accessory decoders and looking to try DCC concepts ads-8sx but this model not listed in the railmaster drop down box for decoder programming.

 

there are some oher DCC concept models listed but not this particular one..

does this mean it won't work in railmaster or can i work around it

It's not listed in the drop down box because you do not program the ADS8X using that RM process method. You don't use the RM 'Accessory Decoder' screen at any time when setting up the ADS8X, neither do you connect the ADS8X at any time to the 'PROG' output of the controller.

 

The ADS8X is a 'Self Learning' decoder and is totally compatible with RailMaster. Many forum members use them with RailMaster. It is programmed whilst it is still connected to the main layout track.

 

The only issue with the ADS8X is their start up power drain if you have more than 4 or 5 of them. They draw so much current at start up that if you have many ADS8X then the start up current draw can trip the 'short circuit protection. Especially if you have the 1 amp power supply. It is almost essential to have the 4 amp Hornby power supply when using the ADS8X.
