Elite and a slave?

You can not add an Elite to another Elite as a slave.

 

You can add a Select to an Elite as a slave, BUT ONLY if the Loco Addresses are in the range 01 to 59

 

So NO, you cannot keep your 4 digit addressing and operate them from a slave unit.

 

This slave addressing limitation would also impact any point & signal addressing you use with your Elite. The Select as a slave would mean that those Accessory Addresses too, would have to be kept in the range 61 to 99.

Hi All

im currently running an elite with 4 digit codes for each train. Is it possible to add an additional controller (select or elite) that will allow me to keeping using the 4 digit codes?

Thanks Chris ... that's a shame but pretty much what I feared 

will look at train numbers to see if I could make that work ..... signals and points are managed from a couple of mega points controllers so that shouldn't be a problem

I give my locos a Select address and a long Elite address.

if I want to use the Select I just flip addresses in CV29 from long to short. The decoder is happy storing both addresses but can obviously only respond to the one flagged by CV29. Saves having to keep reprogramming them although you do have to flip CV29, hence if the Select is plugged in then it gets its session roster with flipped addresses to run.

There is a slave option using Hornby kit and long addresses - use your Elite with Railmaster and a Hand Held tablet or smartphone.
