96RAF
Noddy guide for you John - I can’t make it any simpler for you unfortunately. This assumes you have only 1 x R8247 and it is a Rev 2 unit and you want your signal lamps to start at address 1 (R8247 will number the ports 1, 2, 3 and 4). If not come back and we will adjust the instructions. Connect your lamps to the R8247 like this noting if you ever connect point motors the colours are the same but used in a different order - crazy I know. Now connect the R8247 Track (A-B) connections to the Elite Prog A-B connections with a suitable bit of twin core cable. At the Elite power it up then press Menu. See Loco on screen.Rotate control knob 1 to see Acc on screen and press to select making sure the knob does not move as you press and enter the wrong thing. If so just press ESC and start again.See Address on screen.Press controller 1 to accept, see Write on screen.Press controller to accept that, then enter 1 (your 1st signal lamp address), press controller again.Elite LED will flash several times.Press ESC to get back to Acc.Press controller 1 again and see address on screen.Rotate controller to find CV on screen. Press controller 1 to accept.See Write on screen.Press controller to accept that, then enter 3 (this is CV3). Press controller to accept that.Enter 0 and press controller (zero is the value CV3 uses to switch the port output on continuous which is what your lamps need).Press ESC to get back to CV. This time repeat the above steps for CVs 4, 5 and 6 in turn setting each one to value zero. All four ports are set to continuous. If your R8247 is a Rev 2 unit then it is capable of several advanced modes. For these signal lamps we only need the default Standard Mode. To swap between modes you adjust the value of CV33, which is value 0 for standard mode, so no need even to check it. If yours is a Rev 1 unit ignore that bit.Now if you have more R8247s to do then the next one is given address 5. A third one would have address 9 and so on in blocks of four ports. How does this operate your lamps - at the Elite we need the R8247 connected to the Track terminals so move your twin core from Prog to Track. Now at the Elite press controller 1, then press Acc button and enter the port address of your signal lamp - which will be 1, 2, 3 or 4. Press controller 1 to light one colour or controller 2 to select the other colour. To select another lamp address press Acc again and enter the required port number and press the controller knob as before. You can use the ESC button to toggle through all the addresses you have used in this session.Apologies for such along write up but it is what it is.If you are answering or have questions please do not use the blue button as it will paste all my drivel in again. Just scroll down the page and type straight off in the reply box at the bottom, no need for any quotes.
John-369647
Thanks for your prompt reply. I already have 5 x R8247 which are controlling points. The latest R8247 will be controlling R406 hopefully. You asked for information if this is not my first R8247 thanks john
96RAF
As you are obviously aware of the method for addressing the R8247s in groups of four then just amend the instructions above to use the address(es) you want to use for your signal lamps. All you really need to know is how to set CVs 3 to 6 to value zero to make the output from all four ports continuous.Apologies if the guide was a bit too Noddy but you did ask me to keep it simple.
