Daveb3473
Hi. I have two Hornby class 153 both with esu loksound v5 decoders. Excellent models but very jerky at low speeds. I have used the auto setting function which did improve normal speed but low speed is very jerky. Any advice on cv settings welcome as I have tried lube, clean etc. Both models are identical in behaviour. Many thanks.
96RAF
Discussion on another forum suggests it is due to cogging of the gears, they being of a high ratio. The thread even tried swapping motors for a well known good type but the problem prevailed.
jane1707819582
Two cv's are used to control motor characteristics CV 54 and CV 55 .try adjusting cv54 down /up by a value of 5 then check .continue with this until smooth .CV 55 is useful if the motors have flywheels ,again adjust this by a value of 5 up/down until smooth
ellocoloco
@Daveb3473As RAF suggest this may be a drive train issue. Have you tried running the units on straight DC to see if the problems remains and thus eliminate the Loksound from the equation?
Daveb3473
Thank you to everyone for their help CV54 set to 5 and CV55 set to 20 has made the jerkiness a lot less pronounced. Not perfect, but the motors I expect are the culprit there!

jane1707819582
I would suggest leave CV 54 alone and lower CV 55 one at a time see if this gives you the last bit .
