Hipwell Posted August 1, 2021 Share Posted August 1, 2021 Afternoon all.I've recently bought some new driving wheels for my old hst (which is cd motor fitted) and was wondering weather people oil the Axle's or not?When I was putting it back together it became apparent that the wheels pickup the power, transfer it to the axle and then the axle transfers it to the metal bogie.So would you oil the axle? I feel like I should oil it to stop it wearing, but then if I do oil it, then the oil becomes a barrier between the axle and the bogie and may stop it picking up power properly?What do you people do? ColinB Posted August 2, 2021 Share Posted August 2, 2021 I bought some very expensive electrically conductive grease for my Bachmanns and Hornby locos where they use the axle as a conductor.
