Dawlish Dog
My factory fitted DCC sound Lord Nelson is too loud and runs too fast. What CVs need to be changed to reduce them? Thanks.
Chrissaf
Do we have to assume that the loco is Hornby and the sound decoder is a Hornby TTS one. CV's are decoder specific, therefore knowing which decoder is critical information needed to answer your question. If it is a TTS decoder then the 'Master Volume' CV will be stated on the TTS / Loco datasheet shipped with the loco. TTS speed related CVs have minimal support options. Look for a 'Max Voltage' or similar CV on the datasheet, but be prepared not to find one.Just turn the controller speed down till you get the speed you are happy with. It is not necessary to always turn the controller up to the max.You will also need a controller capable of changing CVs, not all controllers can, and you haven't indicated which controller you are using. Howbi
Assuming your decoder is a Hornby TTS..........Regarding the sound you have a choice, if you wish to reduce the overall sounds then CV178 should be changed, range 0- 8. If it is just the chuffing sound to reduce then CV161 is the one, range 0 - 8. Running too fast is usually down to the controller setting.
morairamike
If Hornby try herehttps://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/144061-changing-volume-on-tts-loco/If not then enter how to adjust CVs on decoder. Would help if you knew the make.Or just search in web.

Dawlish Dog
Thank you. It would seem that the Hornby TTS decoder does not permit changes to CV 5, which is typically the 'Max voltage (speed)' adjustment.I have found the volume CV's.
