Hi all I have fitted DCC concepts Zen v12 mini decoders to both the power and dummy car, the instruction sheet that came with the set says they should both be programmed with the same number for the lights but does not say if they should both be on the track at the same time.

They do not have to be on the programming track at the same time if the decoder and your controller supports dummy car programming, i.e. without a motor load. Programming both together is a simple way round this if your programming track is long enough.

If not it is a simple job whilst you have the bodies off to first program one decoder in the power car, then swap it to the dummy car and fit the second decoder into the power car for programming.

Both decoders are as you say given the same address.

Just ensure if PoM you remove all other locos from the track and disconnect any accessories such as points decoders or digital point motors if on the same bus, else they will adopt the Pendo’ addressing as well.
