Rye 323
Greetings all, I have currently got 4 regional railways 156's from lima models, however, only 2 of these have motor holding chassis and dummy chassis alike. Stating the obvious, I would like to find a source of Hornby power trains that would fit the lima bodies, I have done this with one already and I much prefer to get a Hornby power chassis over a lima one for its general better quality.I have purchased the bodies as there were some rather rare Units e.g 156454 " Whitby endeavor". I have not had the previous power trains as they have been sold off to others as spares (not by myself) and I am aware Hornby will not be continuing anything except 1 unit per Livery by the looks of it.I expect the real track 156 underframes to be completely different, so I'm not involving it in the question.Additionally, I am not so sure if the local model shops would be able to have such a thing available and I am simply looking for advice on where to get the smoother-running power trains from However, This is on a long list of jobs I do need to look into. any advice would be greatly appreciated. M. Matthews
I may have missed the question here. You want a chassis the fits under the lima 156? I think the obvious answer would be that hornby produce a 156 which is based on the lima tooling so I would assume that the bodies are interchangeable but by the time you've bought the chassis, you might aswell just keep the full new model. I'd like to find a chassis Preferably Hornby to put under the lima bodies for the likes of my 156 443 and 480. thank you for you're reply
Going Spare
Seems to me you have 3 alternatives:Build two chassis from component parts from the specialist suppliers (if available),Buy a complete Hornby 2-car unit new or secondhand and sell on the bodies,Try internet sources such as AC Models who break apart complete models and may offer the chassis separately. Rye 323
After these few months have passed I can say that I've successfully managed to get all my 156s modernised and working, Was hoping to Contribute some to a Specific model railway on the Wigan Model Railway Exhibition. However, Due to strike action on the railways that day, I was unable to traffic them up to there.
