Rallymatt
The details really bring layouts alive. Can’t bring myself to spend the money on people or sheep yet, wow they are expensive!!!!
Dave the Busker
Yeah they really are! Since all the buildings are free download card kits I've made at just the cost of paper and ink, I've allowed myself a little bit of spending on the vehicles and some Noch figures. I've got some passenger that should be arriving soon. That'll have to be it for the moment though until I've paid down the credit card on all of this layout so far! You're right though, really does give some life to the scene.
Dave the Busker
A quick wee video showing the Oxford Diecast vehicles on my layout. Blink Bonnie and some Triang TT running.
taunmarc88
It all looks so good! I’ve just subscribed to the channel. I’m still collecting up bits before I embark on my layout so I’m really glad to be able to see what other people are already doing.
Dave the Busker
Thank you! You'll have so much fun trying things out once you start building yours. I'll have a new video sometime soon when my first passenger figures arrive.

taunmarc88
They look really good! It makes the layout feel lived in. Where did you get the figures from?

Dave the Busker
Added some engine driver figures from Moor View Models. I've only Blink Bonny for them to drive, so some of them have ended up working in the mill just now.
Dave the Busker
Replacement bus service in operation today as work is being carried out on the permanent way to install a junction to the branchline and crossover into what will eventually be two bay platforms of the new station:
Rallymatt
Weekend engineering works strike again! Developing rather well Dave. I also owe you a thanks for mentioning a product I wasn’t aware of previously, Tacky Wax! It’s proved ideal for attaching the tiny lamps I got from WHWW, I don’t mind gluing most things down but lamps could need to be moved to make different head codes (when I’m feeling very🤓)
Dave the Busker
Cheers! The Gaugemaster website recommended it for fixing things that you might want to move later, I'd not heard of it either until a few weeks ago
Dave the Busker
No money for new additions right now, and trying to save up for when the 08 finally appears, so I'm looking around the house for little details I can add in on a zero budget. Cut up toothpicks and matchsticks make for a decent pile of timber in the factory yard, and coiled up wire can just about pass for some bundles of cable. Dave the Busker
Nice day to get a washing out...Toothpick painted black, broken guitar E string and paper.
Rallymatt
I have always loved this about the hobby, making things from left over parts of other kits or just general things we find. Being creative like this is so good for the brain 😁
Dave the Busker
...and then there's days like today when I went to make another guitar string washing line and managed to just stab my thumb with it joy

Dave the Busker
Not the first time I've managed to stab myself with a guitar string, and it'll not be the last. Happens most times I try to restring the Rickenbacker or the Wildkat Bigsby. First time it's happened as a washing line though... joy

ntpntpntp
@Dave - ballasting is relaxing :) Take your time, use a spoon to shovel ballast and a good quality soft makeup brush, start at points and work away from the tiebar (leaving it clear of ballast), and remember to tap the rails with the spoon before applying the ballast glue.
