The son of Triangman
Some time ago I promised a few pics of a chipped X.03/X.04 powered loco to your all. A friends old Tri-ang chassis has come into the workshop for fitting with finer scale see through Tri-ang wheels and chipping so I thought you guys might like to see. The decoder is a micro-decoder used for Z and N gauge models and is rated a 1amp continous current and 2amp peak for the those who know about atall currents. Enjoy! http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t43/thetriangman/DSCF0015-5.jpg http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t43/thetriangman/DSCF0019-2.jpg

The son of Triangman
Note I have used my brush clip method rather than soldering directly to the brushes as some do. This allows me or the owner to change brushes easily when they wear out.
The son of Triangman
The blsck feed wire isn't joined but looks that way in the pic as it is sitting behind the pickup plate brown/red feed wire which is joined and heatshrinked. pidder
Would be interested to know whether these are new pick-ups on the wheels, if so the source of them.
The son of Triangman
The pickup's are the original Tri-ang ones, they have been cleaned and inspected in the workshop.
The son of Triangman
The motor was overhauled and lubricated, and it now runs like silk even over point work. The weight of these old locos helps with pickup over pointwork.
The son of Triangman
There are two wiper pickups running on the back of the front and back driving wheels on one side. The other side of the loco is live. This is a "live chassis", with one side of wheels having plastic insulating bushes and both centre wheels having plastic insulating bushes. The coupling rods act as an electrical continuinty of pick-up. Lovely runner and very quiet for an X.04 powered machine too.
pidder
Noted, thought it might help me resurrect my old Albert Hall...
The son of Triangman
The pick-up plate and spring are still available for the Hall good sir, I stock them myself but carn't mention a business name here alas.
The son of Triangman
The decoder is perfect for the Hall or you could use a Hornby Sapphire which I prefer for the Hall.
pidder
SoT Thanks, unfortunately, the wheels and axles of my model are in poor condition too, really need a complete new chassis, possibly not worth the expense. Thanks anyway...
