Going Spare
Hornby are in the process of releasing the Hornby Dublo Flying Scotsman locomotives with gold-plated metalwork as 'Exclusive Editions' of 100 with certificates signed by Simon Kohler.I have seen the two-tender U.S.A. visit version - R30208A - and believe all five Centenary models are being covered. Yelrow
GS, hi, are these the ones Cheltenham Models are taking deposits for. Retail at £499?. Seems a tad expensive to me, dont you know.

atom3624
I don't see any point in putting a motor in them - they'll never turn a wheel!Once they do, you start losing the plating anyway and halve their original value.Doubtless interesting for some - they're a lovely model, but I prefer ones I can circulate for up to hours on the tracks.Al. threelink
You would be better off just buying gold, methinks, although I expect there will be a bit of short term profiteering when they appear at even more ludicrous prices on auction sites. ColinB
So do you think they will end up only making a 100? As has previously been stated, one for the collectors.
