Simmo009
Are these only available in the wide D format, or were they ever done in the narrower styles more prevalent today?
Going Spare
The clip-in couplings were produced in 3 widths. The narrowest (akin to NEM heads) and flexible are in retail pack R8099 while the medium width version was issued in spares packs X8052 and X8059 as well as numerous loco accessory packs but may be difficult to find now, with the wide-bar units in spares pack X9660. 81F
The intermediate/medium width couplings were a standard used by DAPOL (probably introduced by Mainline when they took over the Airfix range) before they switched to NEM pockets. These are still available on their website and other places in packs of 20. Their reference is COUP4.They are marginally different to the Hornby ones but this does not make any operational difference and is hardly noticeable.
