Tour de Airfix
On 20/04/2024 at 11:24, john redman said: Is the diorama base supposed to be on a forward airstrip in France? I'm trying to fathom why there's a dirt road on an RAF base otherwise! Yes, these were rapidly constructed following the D-Day landings and moved across Northern France following the advancing Allied troops. They were unable to use the vacated French airfields as they had been bombed and so large areas of farmland were cleared and laid with temporary runways. I like the way Airfix have provided in their moulding tree stumps, as I remember reading that many a wood was cleared to make way for these forward airstrips. SD45elect2000
I like the Bren carriers, don’t have any but they would make a nice little collection. Randall
modeling maniac
The carriers are PSC and are available at models 2 U for £23.00, which is a bargain if you buy direct from PSC.

modeling maniac
They go together really really well, if you trim the parts down perfectly.
modeling maniac
Just saying, the one leading is what the instructions say with two in the back and then the front crew, the one on the rear left is custom with only the two front crew and a bin gun mounted on the center top, and finally the one on the rear right is another custom build where I have crammed four into the back and the given one of them a bren gun. Just saying the one jout mentioned is quite hard to do as you are putting so many things into the rear which is on the small side shoul I say. Happy building James
