Ratch
No. 457 Squadron Royal Australian Air Force became known as ‘Grey Nurse Squadron’ after repainting their newly arrived Spitfire Mk.VIIIs with distinctive shark mouths. Originally tasked with the air defence of Darwin, the squadron was soon moved northwards to Morotai and eventually Labuan to primarily conduct ground attack missions against the Japanese forces. The aircraft portrayed is that of 457’s commanding officer, Sqn. Ldr. Bruce Watson DFC.
A J Rimmer
That's a cracking build, very well done you - I'd be well chuffed with that.

Dominic Thomas
Well done Ratch. You’ve provided a lot of guidance and encouragement to people who might want a Spitfire that’s not run of the mill.
A J Rimmer
You know, if I had the space I could go for one of these 1/24 kits over a 1/32 - especially the Hellcat, Typhoon or this... Christmas maybe.

Chuffing Billy
Yes, the MK.VIII did have extended wing tips on the very early versions. I have the 1/24 MK.II, V, VIII and IX. To give a bit of variety, I have the V with clipped wings and wanted to have the VIII with extended tips. Thanks to everyone who has replied ! Chuffing Billy
Another annoying thing, as others have mentioned, is the lack of a pilot, kind of essential if your going to model it in flight........ It's not as though Airfix don't have one, that used to be in the Spitfire MK.II and the Hurricane back in the 1970s. Just why they can't redo them for the new 1/24 kits only they know............ Yes you can get them separately from elsewhere, but when you're paying out near on £100 it would be nice to have one included ! Chuffers

Quite simple, it doesn't fit. With all the extra detail there's less room in the office. I had to perform surgery to get my man in.
