It was actually equivalent to a Canadair Sabre mk.4, as the RAF Sabre's were built in Canada not the US - Here's a link to an interesting article. I'm going to say, according to the article and wikipedia, is an F-86E (with a different engine). Which would make sense given the mark numbers on Airfix's box - F.4/F-86E. The (M) is just a designation that it was an F-86E build by Canadair when selling them to other countries. Hope that helps.
