Dominic Thomas Posted Wednesday at 21:47 Share Posted Wednesday at 21:47 My latest completion and another one from the stash procured at a time when the only competition was the inaccurate First Airfix offering. Not the easiest of models. It did have a reasonably detailed cockpit and I’m reasonably happy with the result. The trouble with these original stash members is the competence of the markings. The wing roundels split and would not play ball with the Micro Set/Sol team. Anyway, some pix ….. The kit is the special release of the aircraft from 105 Squadron flown by Wing Commander Hughie Edwards VC in 1941.
john redman Posted Wednesday at 23:16 Share Posted Wednesday at 23:16 Is the original Blenheim a bit dodgy then?
Dominic Thomas Posted yesterday at 07:05 Author Share Posted yesterday at 07:05 (edited) I believe that it is a bit inaccurate in the area at the rear of the engine nacelles, I.e. the fairing extends too far across the wing. The reason for this as I understand it is that the design of the kit was based on a Canadian Bollingbroke. It just meant that this area looked, well, wrong. That’s my understanding from a memory of the fuss that existed at the time of its release. I could be mistaken. The latest releases do not suffer from such problems, I believe. john redman
Interesting, ta. I have a Blenheim in the stash to do as a DFD versus a Storch so maybe I need to correct this.

My tips : be careful with the decals if the kit is old, and the canopy fit between the pilot’s screen and horizontal piece in front was very poor. I added a lot of Perfect Plastic Putty but obviously not enough :
