LandroverTD5
Hi, I have a brand new R3122x GWR 0-6-0 (which appears on line as part of the 'railroad' series, although mine does not have anything on the box to suggest it is a 'railroad' item?). I am using peco set track which is dead flat, power feeds every two feet. The controller is a Hornby Elite with the latest firmware. The loco is stalling, stopping on turnouts and straights for no apparent reason and seems a little erratic with its speed. Does any one have experience with this loco 'out of the box' and should I be looking at a dcc issue here? I have a castle class that runs faultlessly everywhere on the layout. Regards. 2e0dtoeric
re you using dead-frog (plastic) points, or live-frog ones? If the former, it will be a pick-up problem, not the chip. Check that the wheel wipers are contacting ALL the wheels, properly!
LandroverTD5
I am using insulfrog turnouts, but that alone wouldn't explain random stalling and speed fluctuations on turnout free sections of track. Whilst I know my Castle class has a massive electrical footprint compared with the 0-6-0 it runs incredibly smoothly on all areas of the layout with no hint of power drops etc.
Gregd99
I would suggest dirty track or wheels. this is more likely than a flakey decoder. also.... check that you have good connections at your fish plates.
The son of Triangman
The 0-6-0's are famed for not being the best over pointwork but this sounds like either dirty wheels and contacts or a dodgy decoder.
