FinnerZ
I have a Hornby tender driven Mallard I think purchased in 2006, and I had noticed in the last year that the spring on the bottom of the connecting bar between the loco and tender (I'm not sure but I think it's called the tie bar) has stretched and is no longer pulling the bar back towards the loco. I've removed it and there seem to be no problems but I was just wondering how important this spring is.
bocaj
Maybe you should have a look at the service sheet for it, then have a look what spares pack you will need to buy. Then serch it in google and you should be able to buy it somewhere. Hope this helps,Jacob
VESPA
The spring is not absolutely necessary but helps keep the loco and tender in close contact. The spring can be obtained from East Kent Models or Abbigails (AKA Hornby Spares) by post. Your local model shop may just have one as a spare. FinnerZ
Thank you. I'll ask ask next time I go to the shop where they fixed the motor after it burnt out on a DCC track.
