simongatenby
I thought that I would share my e-link troubles with the wider world as I have now got mine working. I bought the Western Master E-link set at the weekend, and have spent the best part of the weekend trying to get it to read cv's from my locos. I had re-istalled the software several times to no avail. I then made a call to the shop that I bought the set from this morning, only to be told that the wrong power track had been supplied with the set and that Hornby do no know when they will be getting the replacements out to my supplier. So what I have done to get around this, is to take off the plastic cover on the power track and remove the yellow (resistor I think) from the track. My railmaster software is now happily reading the CV's from my locos now.
Gregd99
thanks for sharing your experience. I had the same problem some years ago and it drove me batty! The thingo you cut out was a capacitor. It is in the DC clip to help suppress interference on radio and similar. In DCC distorts the signals such that you can't reliably read/write CVs.
