MikeC176
Hi, I have a Sir Kay N15 King Arthur Class that I have just fitted a Hornby R8249 decoder to. It works fine forwards with acceleration however backwards it goes full speed no matter what speed you set it to - even 2mph makes it go top speed! Has anyone else come accross this? The only real difference between the N15 to all my other locos is the fact that this has the Hornby Provided decoder slot in the front of the boiler and as it is so snug and looks to be made out of plastic, I havent used any insulation. Thanking you all for any advice in advance
RDS
@MikeC176 A loco going at full speed, usually indicates that it thinks it is on DC but I have not known of one to do it only in one direction. As a starter, you could change the relevant CV, to be DCC only and see if that makes a difference.
Fishmanoz
It does sound a little like DC runaway, and you can turn off DC running controlled by bit 2 of Cv29 by adding 4 to the value of the CV. However, given it works forward, I think the decoder is faulty and needs to be replaced. You could try CV29 first to see if it makes a difference though. MikeC176
Thanks for the replies guys, I tried your suggestions but sadly they didnt resolve the issue so it was a faulty decoder. That decoder has now been replaced and all is well :-)
