backontrack
I have just had my select controller firmware updated by Hornby to1.4. On trying the updated product I was unable to get the controller to alter direction.(the right hand indicator lit up and the loco went forward but when operated the left hand indicator would not light up) I reset the unit and tried four other locos which all worked fine in both directions. I then tried the first loco again and could not get it to work in any direction. I swapped a decoder from one of my other locos into the first loco and it works fine in both directions. Could a fault with the controller have damaged the decoder?. The unit has been returned to Hornby for investigation. Also button number 7 on the controller is not working. Fishmanoz
First, I assume your firmware update is 1.41, not 1.4? If 1.4, it needs to be updated to 1.41 As 1.4 has bugs. And I would think it most unlikely the Select has caused any decoder damage, it will just be a decoder fault.
backontrack
Thanks for the info regards the decoder, and yes it was the 1.41 upgrade.
ff2nd
Are you sure about that Fishman? I think the Elite update is 1.41, but the Select screen doesn't have enough characters to show that.
96RAF
The select revison state is indicated by a code that appears on the startup screen. See here by Wiggy25 https://www.hornby.com/forum/select-firmware/But if HCC updated it for you it should be at the latest state regardless.
