It happens with a lot of the collectors club models. A couple of years ago the LSWR terrier sold out very quickly and was being sold on auction sites for £120 each (they cost £35) and the LSWR T9 was going for nearly double the price when it was still available to buy from the collectors club

The same will happen this year, tbh its well worth the £27 membership fee this year if you are looking to buy the limited edition stuff and sell it on at a nice profit. Shame really that true collectors can miss out because of the del boy types wanting to make a fast buck :(

You are unlikely to make a vast profit from limited Editions at present, the market is in the doledrums and traders are desperate to sell stock.  You may see the odd loco sell on the likes of EBay for silly money but there will always be one mug that has more money than sense in a recession hit market, generally though these type of sales are isolated.  Models are often listed and don't sell at the prices asked.  A lord of the isles limited set with three coaches mint boxed has just fetched less than £20 on ebay, three years ago it would have made £100 easy.
