CatmanStu
I recently purchased a Schools, the detailed version. It runs well on DC. However when I fitted a decoder in the tender, the engine just races in one direction. Before you ask yes the decoder is the right way round, and works in other loco,s. I have checked the wiring in the tender and all is well until it is conected to the engine. Then pins 4 and 5 show a conection. I think the fault is in the locomotive specificly the small pcb the tender lead is soldered to.Will Hornby be able to sort this out, as I feel it should never have left the factory with this fault.Stuart. walkingthedog
If it's under warranty definitely, if it's not they'll still help but you should really take it back to where you bought it first.Generally if a loco races away on DCC it is because the wheels/pickups are dirty. Try disabling DC running and see what it does.
CatmanStu
The only way I can do that is to put the decoder in another engine to alter the CV. I have decided to phone the Hornby repairs dept in the morning.
