Elite ugrade fail, now it's dead!

Hi, Just sorted all other problems with sound etc....so decided to upgrade my Elite 1.3 to 1.41. Got the computer to download, all looked good, but fails everytime!! (tried loads of times!!) NOW Elite is dead, just flashes the green light when I plug it in.

Can I bring it back to life?....even in the 1.3 state, at least it worked.

You could try a reset, which will wipe out all memories and loco i/d's you have saved.

Failing that, it's a return to Hornby job, sorry!

You have to have a viable elite before you can reset it.

oh for a proper reset button that would put it back to square one again.

Just checking, are you running as administrator?  Are you putting it into upgrade mode by doing all the delays etc on startup?

 

Do you have a different computer to try it on?  It's known to be finicky on some then works on another?

Yes. Running as admin. Tried two computers, two usb leads, done everything to 'the book'. How do I reset the unit? What is a viable one?

To reset the Elite back to factory settings do.

1. Press Menu. Screen shows Loco2. Rotate Controller 1. Screen shows Unit3. Press Controller 1 to confirm. Rotate Controller 1 untill Reset is displayed.4. Press Controller 1 to confirm.

But, from what he says, Zues, he can't do that or anything similar if the unit is not working in the first place.

All sorted, thanks everyone. I was trying windows8 , obviously requires windows7. Used mates comp, now have firmware 1.41.

Congratulations, dwragg. Just in time for Christmas then. There have been quite a few complaints about using Windows 8, although it's apparently still possible to do it with that. So your Elite is fine now? Great!
