The Musicman
I bought a R/H point and when I ran my Somerset Belle Black locomotive it jumped of the points.I checked the black plastic frog part and it was about half a millimetre proud. After filing said piece level it still jumped off the point and I had to file the actual groove where the wheel runs through.Suffice to say it is alright now but its a bit unnerving to think those Chinese can turn out such rubbiush products. 2e0dtoeric
This is hardly a DCC topic - and there have been a lot of comments in the general threads about Chinese plastic frog points being oversize.
96RAF
Having 'fettled' it yourself then you are stuck with it.Had you taken it back and 'compared notes' with the retailer versus any replacement he had to offer, you may have seen it was a one-off or not.Too late now, but I generally agree stuff should be fit for purpose out of the box, without recourse to a chuffing (steam era) big file.
