LCDR
the ferret said:Spoilsport!!Sadly I think PP may be right, there are outstanding models from the 2011 catalogue, and the tendency in recent years has been to concentrate on re-liveries (especially with diesels and electrics) rather than brand new. Not really surprising because there are very few diesel classes not yet modelled,a few electrics of course, with multiple units a long way back, however if you included the competition even DMUs are being turned out with remarkable frequency. The L1 2-6-4T was a real surprise last year, and I guess that there will be at least one steamer under wraps to keep the competition guessing. However most of the top link passenger power has already been done in recent times (King, Castle, County, West Country, Merchant Navy, Royal Scot, Patriot, Jubilee, Princess Royal, Princess Coronation, A4, A3, A2, A1, B17, Britannia, and Clan) so only the air-smoothed Merchant Navy, the W1, the P2 and the Duke of Gloucester are missing. Of these the DoG is the more likely candidate. January 3rd will be very interesting however,

Merry crimbo everyone!HiI don;t think you will see a range of Q1's. I see from The Collector that Q1 33005 is now in the forthcoming releases. They produced eleven different models between 2003 and 2007. I think they could/should have produced 33001, which could have been this years NRM model. There are still some good bargains for this loco on ebay.
The son of Triangman
I would like to see the Blue Pullman DMU re-introduced, ok so the opposition is doing it in super detail and the samples look good, but a nice re-intro of the old Tri-ang model in DCC REady fomr with some of those nice working Pullman lights in the Railroad range at a sensible price would sell well. £300 for the oppositions model, most likely less than £70 for a Railroad version, know which one I would buy and it wouldn't be the oppositions one. The son of Triangman
That's really sat the cat amongst the pidgeons now! A re-intro of the Tri-ang EM2, Southern 2-BIL EMU, and the Class 81 AL1 would also be good, uprated with new chassis and motors and DCC socket. The son of Triangman
Not forgetting the R.335/B "Nellie" 0-4-0T and Stephenson's Rocket as well. A Rainhill Trials set would be nice with the main contenders in.

LCDR
SoT, Can't really argue with any of your suggestions for Railroad, but I wonder if Hornby still have the tooling to do these. I would be very excited by a Rainhill Trials set with a Rocket, Sans Pareil and Novelty (and perhaps a static model of Velocipede??) and a selection of L&M passenger vehicles including some open Thirds. A 'Northumbrian' would also be nice! I can't get too worked up by the Blue Pullman myself but I know there is a following, but the EM2 (as a CKD kit perhaps) might be an unusual and interesting revival. I always regret not getting one myself. I love the little 'Nellie' model, and have just restored a couple into Southern Railway livery, one in wartime black and another into lined malachite, a repaint was essential as these came to me with horrible DIY paint jobs, which was soon sorted out with Modelstrip. I already have examples of the genuine Triang liveries plus some renamers (wives and old girlfriends as I never went out with a Nellie or a Connie myself! It is amazing how useful computer printed address labels can be).The Dock Authority diesel might also be another good revival, but with some better profile wheels, and the steeple cab electric locomotive too. The son of Triangman
The R.253 Dock Shunter would be a good addition as LC&DR has suggested.
LCDR
Even the Industrial Railway Society found space in its learned journal to debate the origins of the design of the body for the R253.
brianp
Hi all, i really would love the APT to be reintroduced this seems to get bypassed every year even though quite a few people would like to see it. It would of been nice to get it this year as it was its 30th anniversary of the first public run. Even a railroad version would do !
The son of Triangman
The old APT model back in Railroad would be a nice addition. They fetch silly prices in good condition online nowadays so would appeal to dust collectors and speculators as an investment as well as modellers. The son of Triangman
I did indeed, Dust Collectors buying model railways as an investment in the hope the price will go up and then having the model in it's mint box collecting dust. I am guilty to some extent of that as I have some models that have never run, as are most but that said I do try and run models as they are meant to be run. LCDR
Hopefully modern packaging will reduce dust damage for these collectors. Dust and moisture can play Old Harry with stored models. Traction tyres and insulation can perish too. Some plastics and cast metals go brittle or disintegrate over time, or warp. Look at the state of some early Triang, Hornby Dublo, and Graham Farish models.Personally all my trains are to be run (eventually) however I fight a constant battle against deterioration.
