  1. Hi David Over the years I've been here I have seen several requests for locos to be produced without numbers/names to allow us to make our own choice. Hornby always say there is no demand (Rubbish, I'm demanding) so I doubt if a full repaint will bring any different response.
  2. Hi Try AC Models at Eastleigh, less than 5min walk from the station. I can't remember the name of the shop in Salisbury but again 5 mins from Station in Fisherton Street. Usual disclaimer - only connection is as a satisfied customer yum
  3. Hi LC&DR The likes of Thee & Me are probably the Dinosaurs they were thinking about!! grinning PP
  4. Only 10 years worth? I've got the Railway Modeller from 1961 to 2000 ish, Cinstructor from 1961 to early/mid ish 1980. Free to good home. Only thing is 'Complete years only. Buyer collects Hampshire area' I went to a couple of Exhibitions about 12-15 months ago and tried to give them to the clubs that were present. No joy!! I'm loth to take them to the dump, but SWMBO is getting very tetchy whenever the subject comes pup 😀
  5. I can confirm 60077 was The White Knight The Gresley A1/A3s had the nickname of Racehorses (not in the north east), only 5 were'nt named after horses.
  6. With projected sales figure of * * ONE I can't see this appearing in the near future!!! ** My opinion - not a real poll 😆
  7. As Barry said, a good selection of stock and progress on the scenery etc. Where's the V2? 😆
  8. Yes, although I don't know if it was the whole crew. I know nothing else, such as where etc
  9. Hi Vespa The original 'Scots' were built in two batches by North British in Glasgow. The names had an Army theme on the locos from one workshop whilst the other batch were named after early steam locos. After a few years the 'old loco' batch were renamed on the army list. Therefore I think the photo is showing the renaming of 6137 Vesta to 6137 The PrinceVolunteers South Lancashire. 6138 Fury was named in 1928. It was renamed The London Irish Rifleman in 1929, the Fury plates were presumably stored until used on 6170 after rebuilding. Trust the above is helpful 😀
  10. Hi Vespa Trust you are well As you say it was a wonderful website, the only problem being when you go into it you are lost for the rest of the day!! He and I were Novocastrians although we never met - I was on a special which he photographed and I was resident in Hampshire by then.
  11. Hi, A very flippant reply to a serious question. BR had a number of fires in the oil bath on Bulleid pacifics prior to rebuilding. This started between the frames and by the time the Fire Brigade had done their stuff there was damage to the air-smooth casing (I know of a couple of cases where the incident was a long way from the road) 😆
  12. I paid a short visit to Hull docks and among other things had a tour of the docks. On the quay, at one point, was a slightly (?) bent 40 ft container. Actually it was more than slightly. It transpires that those dockers had been loading 20 footers all morning and all they had to do before lunch was load a 40 footer on to a trailer. They were loading to ordinary trucks and as they were on an ordinary berth they were using a spreader and strops. To get finished, and have a longer break, they left the 20ft spreader on and just picked up the 40 using the strops. It wasn't the best tdea anyone had that morning. 😮
  13. Hi As indicated above the dates are meant as somewhere between 1st Aug and 31st of the month. Also the size of the consignment can make a difference a full container(provided the paperwork is correct) can be deivered direct within a couple of days. A part container is possibly delayed while the container is unpacked. If the paperwork is not correct, delays can arise waiting for the corrected documents to arrive, perhaps from China, perhaps Margate Hope this is of use
  14. Hi LC Weather fine - just right for day-dreams 😆
  15. Without doubt you cannot beat the old Peco/Hornby-Dublo buckeye coupling.
