  1. Makes sense, but I was also meaning things like, are the factory-applied smokebox numbers just printed on, or are they embossed, and would need to be cut away?
  2. I've just started thinking about maybe adding another A4 to my collection; but this time going for one in BR Early Crest condition, and modifying it to be 60013 'Dominion of New Zealand'. How would one go about changing the smokebox numberplates?
  3. So, the other day a couple of Peppercorn Pacifics arrived at my place, and that oddly got me thinking; what counts for 'latest acquisition', especially in relation to online shopping; is it when we flash the cash, or when it arrives home?
  4. Just in the last few minutes, I put my money down, and bought my second A4; a tender-drive model of Golden Eagle in LNER Green.
  5. Hi everyone Years and years ago, I got my hands on one of the "Codename: Strikeforce" sets, with the 0-4-0T, the two Lowmacs and the covered van. I've enjoyed them on and off over the years, but the wheels on the wagons (those nasty plastic wheels friction-locked onto metal axles) have pretty much given up the ghost by this point and need replacing. Does anyone have any suggestions for where I can get new and better wheels for them? A parts number for them would also be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  6. I mean, the L&YR had multiple variations on it's locomotive livery in the late 19th and early 20th Century, so I'm trying to narrow down which particular variation it is, and when it was in use.
  7. New arrival this afternoon; Bachmann's Aspinall Class 5 2-4-2T, in Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway livery. Not entirely sure of the period though; does anyone know?
  8. Well, I've broken new ground in terms of my collection; I just bought my first ever Gresley A4- it's the 2008 'Railroad' tooling of Falcon in LNER Blue and with its' pre-war number of 4484.
  9. Well, that's kinda what I'm doing; my plan is to make it all one compartment as a 'Directors Saloon', with a table and multiple armchairs inside it. It's also most likely going to be the oldest 'passenger coach' on the line (which depending on whom you ask, is either known as the "Yarlshaven Light Railway", or the "Jarlshaven Light Tramway"), though strictly speaking it's probably more like Departmental stock?
  10. Well, that works for me; like I said, I picked up an LMS liveried one at a swapmeet, and I'm planning to make it akin to a bespoke 'Directors Saloon' for a light railway; one that had some rather eccentric requirements of the builder- one of them being that the doors had to be tall enough that a man wearing a top hat could board and alight from the coach without having to remove his headwear.
  11. So, I picked up one among an assortment at a swapmeet a few weeks ago, and I've had a thought rolling around my head for a while now. By now I've heard a whole mess of things about how they're non-prototypical and all that, but I've never heard hard numbers about them- how tall they actually would be in 'real life', how big the compartments are, etc. Anyone got any figures on those?
  12. Same here with me; though it's a little annoying that I ended up with two copies of Issue 2.
  13. Well, took longer than I hoped, but Chamossaire arrived in the post today.
  14. What's new on my lot; ordered a copy of the Thompson A2/3 #514 "Chammosaire" from Kernow Model Centre; it'll arrive in a week or two, all going well.
