The son of Triangman
I thought this might be a helpful little guide to those with older locos. These are average current draw Tri-ang-Hornby readings from the early 1970's quoted in catalouges, trade info etc. Worth bearing in mind is that the motor magnets loose magnetism over time and windings can decay so current draw may be higher today than it was then. 96RAF
Very usefull SoT.I take it average means typical running currents and stall current would be a tad higher.I've just dual motored an older Class 56 (R2335E) with new 3-pole ringfield motor bogies and wondered what the total current draw would be so that I can pick a suitable decoder for it.I didn't think an R8249 would be man enough for the job, and was looking at a Sapphire, but if your Evening Star current is anything to go by then the little 'un may just be OK. Michael_A
I thought this might be a helpful little guide to those with older locos and those DCC them so have posted in both sections. The list is by no means exhaustive. These are average current draw Tri-ang-Hornby readings from the early 1970's quoted in catalouges, trade info etc. Worth bearing in mind is that the motor magnets loose magnetism over time and windings can decay so current draw may be higher today than it was then. choralc
Synchrosmoke or lamps really kick the power draw up!
The son of Triangman
Current draw figures quoted are running current not stall. Hope that helps guys.
