LCDR
The little 0-4-0s fit a requirement for a cheap and cheerful entry level locomotive with few frills and robust enough to withstand inexperienced handling. To re-tool them to finer standards would defeat this objective. I agree that it would be nice to have a few more 'industrials' to a better standard of accuracy and detail but these really ought to be new models not warmed over junior ones. Small models do have a place on serious modellers layouts where space is at a premium. I am hoping that the Peckett W4 will fly off the shelves so that Hornby will see that there is a robust demand for this type of model. Maybe we will get some genuine industrial wagons to go with them too?
Fazy
That's a nice idea LC. Not much use for my main line layout. But could lead to a small industrial layout The possibilities are endless. May make me finish that Craintank of setting in the to do box
