The Russet Lines. This is the collector box for my loco detection system.

All track mounted sensors are routed back to here either by direct wiring if fairly close by or by way of fibre-optic cable if remotely located on the layout.

The box contains a motherboard which mounts a BBI-32 (Leo Bodnar device) switch box that connects to a PC running TGG software. There is a flat version of the motherboard for mounting between frames under the layout.

The purpose of the system is to provide total electrical isolation of the track sensors from all upstream components so that in event of a derail causing a short of track voltage to a sensor no damage will be done. The sub-modules within the box have indicator LEDs which aid fault finding and initial configuration of sensors to operating software ports IDs.

The cube houses loco detection modules essential for automated running.
