  1. Thanks to you all. I'd kind of worked out that the gold bits,I know now as cylinder drain pipes, fitted under the steam cylinders; I just could't see why there were two sets. I had no idea about the 'bash plate'.
  2. Can someone help please? I recently took delivery of a new Princess Class 'Queen Maud' and I'm a bit confused where some of the bits in the accessory bag fit. I know about the bits in the box with a tick, but where do the others go? The two gold coloured parts look as though they fit in the same place; one a folded version of the other./media/tinymce_upload/78b3d88a4c3128398f372b70f8a2fd93.JPG Thanks.
  3. Good Morning, I have the R1230 HST Train set. I want to add DCC TTS, which I know requires a decoder in both the Driver and Dummy Cabs. Only the Driver Cab has a socket for the decoder. My initial thought was to in the Driver Cab and to install two thin red and black wires from the DRiver Cab through the coaches into the Dummy Cab and install it in an 8-pin decoder harness I have; this has the problem that I won’t be able to decouple the coaches. My second thought is to modify the Dummy cab to pick up the supply from the rails. I’ve been looking at the Hornby Maintenance sheets, I assume that the Driver Cab picks the supply up from the front bogie(?). Is it possible to replace the bogie in the Dummy Cab with the Driver Cab bogie? My other questions are: Is the DCC socket mounted on the PCB in the DRiver Cab? Are the LED lights in the Driver Cab dual colour (white/red) or would I need to replace them with the Lght Board assembly shown in the Service Sheet? I’m referring to Service Sheet HSS No.332B (Feb 2010). Any helpful advice would be appreciated.
  4. Chrissaf, Thank you very much for that information. Steve.
  5. I know this is going over ground that's already been covered, but I'm a little confused. I read the instructions to convert the R070 Turn table to DCC and then read some of the posts concerning the modification. I have a couple of questions: 1. Is the modification described here https://www.hornby.com/uk-en/hornby-dcc/decoder-installation-guides/turntable-conversion everything that needs to be done or is there other work needed; in particular the power to the roating bridge. 2. Why can't an R8247 decoder port be used to control the Turntable under DCC by increasing the dwell time? The guide for the R8247 does say 'These differing dwell periods may be useful if motorised point motors are used or if lights or motorised accessories are required to be switched on for a period of time.' Thanks in advance. Steve.
  6. Thanks for the reply. No I'm another Steve Webb. It's a common name! I was at school with another Stephen Webb AND in the same class. Imagine that confusion. I was trying to replicate the kit that comes with the R1167 layout, albeit adding the TTS to the engine. I was thinking of buying the R3248TTS version. You're right about Railmaster; it needs a Windows PC, that's why I was going to buy the Elite; it doesn't need software. It's the part numbers of the rolling stock that the R1167 layout is supplied with that I', most interested in.
  7. Can someone help please? I'm re-starting my interest in model railways and intend to design and build my own layout. I was going to buy the set R1167, but I'd like to jump straighth to digital. I intend to buy the track, train and coaches, together with (mostly likely) the Elite controller. I'd like to software control, but I run Mac OS and don't have a PC. I know the track I have to buy, and the train the R3248TTS, but I'm struggling to identify the coaches. I know they are 2 x LNER composite coaches and 1 x LNER brake coach; I think are are R4332 (x2) and R4333 (x1). Can someone confirm this, or correct me please? Thanks, Steve.
