  1. Hi folks, I haven't forgotten to post an update because basically there isn't one. I ordered the motor as detailed, including a payment for postage / delivery and the company took the order and the money, but one month on still no motor delivered. I did try and contact them for an update, but only email correspondence was / is available. Despite asking specific questions about when I might expect delivery, after several days of delay I got a stock reply to the effect, 'we are a small family business and are struggling with the volume of orders at the present time' - no information as to why they have taken the money but provided no update as to when delivery might be scheduled - very frustrating. Jim
  2. Hi Andy, that looks spot-on. I have ordered one up and will post how I get on when it is delivered. Thanks for your help. Jim
  3. Hi Andy, in the meantime I have disassembled the motor completely to see what it was like inside. The rear bearing does appear a bit worn, but the forward bearing appears fine - checked with a smear of grease and then reinserted and all of the grease is 'removed' by the fit. The 'clunky' feeling on rotating the rotor whilst out of the stator is gone, and the rear bearing spins okay. When I reinsert the rotor into the stator, the less than smooth rotation appears - hence I think it may be heading for an electrical issue as opposed to a mechanical issue. However; on reassembly, I tried it once more on the track and it did not sound quite so rough - I did lubricate and clean the motor whilst apart. I determined that the majority of the 'noise' was actually wheelspin. The car is extremely lightweight at only 76g. I added weights / magnets (not yet the correct type) and increased the weight on the rear axle to a total car weight of 94g, and it is definitely improved, but not yet perfect, i.e. smooth progress is not there yet - unlike the white GT40 in my profile picture. I will try and attach a photo of the car apart.
  4. Hi folks, I have a really old Scalextric GT40, from the late sixties, which was one of the very first high powered slot cars made at the time by Scalextric. I recently updated the GT40 to operate on my digital track, which all went well. However, now it looks like the motor bearings are worn, as its progress around the track is vey 'clunky', not smooth at all. I have looked around the various spares sites, but cannot locate a motor that looks anything like mine. The rear axle, including the crown gear, bolts to the motor assembly with 2 x screws. The motor itself locates in the chassis with a 5mm diameter spigot that clips into the chassis horseshow at the front. The rear is secured by the rear axle, which the motor is bolted to. The length of the motor, without the rear axle is 24mm, and its thickness (height) is 16.2mm. The solder connections are top and bottom, as opposed to both being at the same level, like most of the newer motors on the sites. Any ideas / help welcomed on locating a suitable replacement motor, or other fix. Jim
