  1. Going spare, you was spot on the money. X9693 wheels (Class 156) are indeed the exact same as X9888 wheels (Class 153) After reading your post I e-mailed Hornby themselves to confirm if the wheel sets were of the same size. The response from Hornby was they don't know and therefore couldn't tell me, because they had neither wheels in physical stock to measure. and they don't keep the size of the wheels on the system. (which I found strange, but where Hornby the manufacturer was unable to help you yourself a hobbyist was) So, I took a chance on your recommendation. wheels arrived this morning and they're the same size. Thanks very much, I can now press ahead on finishing my kit build.
  2. Thanks for the suggestion, they do indeed look very similar, I've e-mailed to see if they confirm the same diameter. fingers crossed.
  3. When i click the link my Norton antivirus kicks in and warns the site is dangerous website. (via laptop) I used my phone with no such warning, i'll e mail them to make sure the wheels are in stock. Thanks for your help,
  4. Hi, I'm somewhat of a novice when it comes to model trains. Hence why I'm here looking for advice. I'm building a three coach EMU kit, and chose Hornby's class 153 bogies. I sourced the motor and bogie for the power car (complete with wheels) with ease from peters spares and ebay and sourced the bogie frames (X9885) for the other two carriages. but im having problems trying to source the sets of wheels (X9888 wheel set) Hornby have none in stock and are unable to say when new stock will arrive, they pointed me in the direction of acmodelspares. who also have none in-stock, I contacted them to see when new stock might be expected but got no reply. My question is, is there an alternative set of wheels which I could use which are the same diameter to fit the bogies? Steve
  5. I'd love to see the new carrier QE class HMS QE and PoW in 350 scale. Its a shame Airfix are slow out the traps when it comes to modern British Ships and boats in 350 scale. I'd like to support Airfix, but when it comes to 350th i had to turn to Trumpeter for the Type 23's Hobby Boss for Astute. Bronco for Vanguard. Atleast Airfix brought HMS Illustrious, Type 45s & Trafalgar class to market. I'd like to see an Airfix release of the Albion class in 350th. possibly even the new RFA Tide class. (might not be a popular choice and too costly?) But surely going forward Airfix have to if nothing else produce the new carriers in 350th.
