Well I took the plunge yesterday and bought 10000 & 10001 in BR green with eggshell blue waistband. I have a black 10001 that runs beautifully smoothly. Then I got an email from L'pool to say that the DOG 71000 is due 16th Dec.

I thought I had cancelled it but will let the order run now.

From information posted on RM*** today, there are only seven Hornby items that will arrive before Christmas, and DOG 71000 is one of those, in all formats. Everything else is now 2014.

    Hi Cooped

You said "Thanks for that nugget of information PP, was not aware of that!"

You're welcome - I'm a mine of (mainly useless) nuggets!!!

Hope your grand tour of the uk

    is going well!!

I'm still in the ole US of A, it's Tovideous who's on a Blighty trip right now. I was hoping to get me and the family over the 4th July week, but flights just too expensive so we're over the last week in August. Disappointed

I'll be missing the great gathering, but DDE and D of C should still be at York and hopefully we'll catch Sir Nigel on the NYMR (haven't told the wife this plan yet though!).

Looking forward to getting back home again, I have a new niece to meet!

    Hi

    Dan

Please, please, bring some sun with you, after a month in Florida, we're home and have had the heating on. I might stay longer next year.
  3. I can't see people cancelling their orders for the Great Gathering. It's a limited edition, they will have budgeted for it, if they cancel, they might have been "speculators". A true collector will wait, however long it takes. I've no doubt a few "full

sets" will appear on ebay at some stage - but at what price? It's not a cheap item in the first place.

I read on another website that most of the Great Gathering A4's won't get into Margate until week commencing 7th October 2013. The only one which will released before that date is the Mallard, which is due week commencing 22nd

    July.

I've been waiting for E-Link to get released. According to one well known stores website, it is due in stock next Monday.

But according to Hornby, it won't be released until early July.

Wonder what the chances of Cock O' North being

    released in 2013?
That has already gone back to the end of December.

My supplier says Cock O' North is now January 2014.

Oh, yeah!! Bit like going to a model exhibition, saying that you're not going to buy anything, and then arriving home with the car full!!!

Holland Afrika Line arrived this morning. No

more purchases until end of May.

The car is empty at the moment! Next purchase is R4538 BR Unconverted Open Second Coach - due out in May. Then, worryingly, the postman needs to be intercepted, almost on a monthly basis.

  6. Budget Day today, so may have to make some cuts! I think there may have to be some easing of acquisitions. My collections, compared to some is small, about sixty odd loco's. With nine on pre-order, that will take it in excess of seventy - and as yet, still

nowhere to run them. Like many, I buy what I like, although BR/SR seems to dominate. I recently acquired a Blue Box 4CEP unit, just because the price was ridiculously low (Liverpool currently £69)- I paid less than that - but did I really need it? I think

it's going to be a frustrating year.

  7. Graskie says most kids won't remember the film, I think most current parents won't have heard of it. The film was released in 1953 (I was seven) - and I'm now coming up for sixty six, and my children (now in their late thirties) have never heard of it.

To many it will just be another starter set.

  8. I don't know if it is a category many of you look at, but there are some incredible layouts for sale on ebay. Many are layouts that have featured (very recently) in the monthly magazines we all subscribe to. Are these sales due to the economy, or does the owner want to move on to something else? One recent layout was a four track, multi-level, built round a loft, it looked fantastic, but it had been built with no thought about ever moving it - so whoever bought it, had to break it down into manageable pieces.

If you wanted an instant model railway it's worth a look.

  9. I can't help you with regard the HST light - I would guess Hornby spares, but someone will know the exact answer. With regards the Pullman carriages, you can run them on dc and dcc. On dc the lights will come on as you turn the power up, and go off as

you turn the power down. On dcc as the track power is on all the time, the lights will remain on as long as the carriage remains on the track.
