  1. i am concerned that Airfix stores my debit card details on its server / database. How can I have this removed? I would prefer not to have my card details stored by any organisation. I cannot locate any method of remotely removing the card details.
  2. Currently making Airfix Hawker Hunter 1:48 scale. Painting using Humbrol Acrylics. Got really smooth underside of fuselage using 10 coats of thinned metallic 11. When fully dried masked this to paint upper in 164. Upon removing masking tape found much of the metallic 11 has come away revealing bare plastic. Is this normal for acrylic paint or could it have happened with enamels? If I’d primed the base plastic would the acrylic have adhered better?
  3. Thanks for suggestions, the liquid gravity is one that I will try.
  4. Can anyone advise me if the caliper of plastic parts has decreased over the years? I sometimes wonder if the plastic feels thinner on newer models. Also, what is recommended as best way of weighting models to stop them tipping back when displayed on tricycle undercarriage? I've tried fishing weights but these don't always fit. What glue is successful for securing weights to inside of model?
  5. The airbrush paint on the colour guide supplied with the kit has different codes to that on the Airfix website. For example: Colour guide shows 163 dark green BS381C 241 whereas on Airfix website it is shown as DB0163 As I'm new to airbrushing are the codes almost unimportant? If I order those on current website will colours match those on colour guide supplied with kit?
  6. A young friend of mine built and painted an Airfix Me109 in 1:72 scale. To complete the model he flat coated final painted kit in Humbrol's Matt Cote; however instead of giving the required result the kit now appears with a very high gloss finish. Can anyone advise me why this is?
  7. PM, Many thanks for your reply and advice. I read somewhere that if blue tack is used in large enough amounts over time it degrades and some of the oil inherent in it's manufacture can seep through the model. However, your direction to use it as an adhesive to fix other items like lead is one I think I will use. Many thanks, Andy
  8. Is model filler suitable to use when weighting a nose on tricycle undercarriage planes? I used it once before on an Airfix 1:72 Tornado but after doing so noticed that underneath the nose the plastic was pitted; this may have been a fault in my model as I can't remember examining the parts before commencing. However, I wondered if the large amount of filler used had 'melted' corresponding area.
  9. Many thanks. I have now ordered 240 and 242 Andrew
  10. I am fairly new to modelling and am currently making a BF109 from Dogfight Double kit A50160 1:48 scale. The two greens recommended in instructions for upper wings & fuselage are Humbrol 31 and 117. However, 31 looks far too dark against 117 and doesn't look like colour guide in instructions. Can anyone recommend an alternative? I am not wholly fixed on 100% accuracy but do want plane to look closer to colour guide in instructions.
