  2. Hi Grumpy, The guns come with the kit but Ratch didn't fit them to his as his was an early 1941-42 boat. They didn't have them fitted then (nor the splinter matting) until after the Dieppe raid (August 1942). Dave
  3. Atlantic Models do a 1/700 HMS Ark Royal (R09) in her final 1978 configuration. It isn't cheap and sells out almost as soon as new stocks arrive. Starling Models website - https://starling-models.co.uk/products/hms-ark-royal-1978 Dave
  4. Here is one I built in 2011 in one of the alternative schemes: Dave
  5. Both the old and new sets of instructions say to paint the aircraft gloss white overall except for the fin that needs painting dark blue to match the decals. Dave
  6. My build of the Airfix 1/144 BAC Aerospatiale Concorde (BOAC) (05170-3) It was a 1970s boxing with decals that were shot so I used a set from a 2021 Vintage Classic release. I painted the tail blue but the cheatline and nose was all decals. If I was making this again, I would paint the cheatline and nose. The white plastic of the old kit was a joy to work with. BTW, here it is alongside two more Concordes well on the road to completion. There is a 70s Air France boxing using home-made decals. The BAC prototype is the grey plastic Vintage Classics release with F-DCAL decals: Dave
  7. Hi Patrick, As Captain Mainwaring used to say "I wondered who would be the first to spot that"! I had dry-fitted the masts and took the photos in my haste to get the pictures online. Later on I discovered that I had, like you said, swapped the fore and main masts. They have since been fitted in their right places and the correct images have now been uploaded. Dave
  8. My restoration of an Airfix 1/32 Bond Bug (M10C) The "patient" before restoring: Afterwards: Exhaust was scratchbuilt. Dave
  9. It was built for the ATF 2021 Airfix Starter Kit GB, where we could only use the paints, glue and brush that came with the set. The paint consisted of Black, White, Cream and Copper. Annoyingly, the black and white were rock hard and I had to use spares. In addition sprue cutters, sanding board and a craft knife could be used. No filler, rigging, masking, airbrushing, enamel paints etc were allowed. An interesting build to say the least when you take into account the constraints behind it's build. Dave
  10. I had the same problem when I built one of these in 2007. The bow thruster comes as one piece - a tube with a propeller in the middle. It didn't fit correctly unless the hull sides were squeezed in. I didn't want the hull to be out of true so I filled the gap each side with plastic card and filler: As Kenneth says, if your part is not as mine was then it could be short-shot. Dave
  11. The advantage of buying the old boxings is the moulding is crisper. The downside is that the decals are normally too old to use. I built an original boxing five years ago, ditched the decals and painted all markings: Dave
  12. My build of the Airfix 1/144 SR.N4 (09171) in the Hoverlloyd scheme. Vehicles are Oxford die-cast and figures courtesy of eBay. Both slightly undersize but is only noticeable if you use the kit cars - which I didn't. I have another one in my stash which will be made as the Seaspeed version. Dave
  13. My conversion of the Airfix 1/32 Beach Buggy (A02412V) to a four-seat, six-wheeler. The paint job is Alclad 2 Candy Violet Enamel. A fun build of a great little kit. Must make more! Dave
