  1. I have been gifted Class 58 (Hornby R.250) after opening it I was surprised to find what I did. I've checked the service sheet 137B and, even the wiring is different. Has anybody got any ideas of what is what? Thanks in advance. Steve.
  2. "GOING SPARE".......You are a diamond, that is exactly what I was looking for, thank you so much. Steve.
  3. I'm after a detailed breakdown sheet for this loco, the sheet that came with the set does not have any numbered breakdown of parts. I've been having probs with the motor, which I believe is a Lima one, has anybody got any ideas? Regards, Steve.
  4. 96 RAF, thank you so much for this and I'm glad to say it worked,.......... eventually. Steve.
  5. Many thanks to "Going Spare" that's very kind of you to send me this info. Much appreciated, Steve.
  6. A friend has given me this loco to service, but I having trouble dropping the motor from the frame. The frame number is S4539 there is a clip (it seems) by the Made in Great Britain side, but I'm afraid of damaging it should it not be the clip. Does anyone have an inkling of getting it out. I think it was about 2008 when it was produced (?) Steve.
  7. 96RAF; BRILLIANT !! Many thanks for your idea, it seems so simple your method, I'll give it a whirl and let you know how I got on, unfortunately it'll be in (I hope) a couple of days. I bow to your superior knowledge. Steve.
  8. I have a Deltic D9014. I'm trying to detach the motor for service, but I'm having trouble freeing it. I think I have to pinch the post together so that it'll drop out of the frame, but I can't seem to push it out. I don't want to damage it and can't find anything on the tinterweb. Any ideas would be appreciated. Steve
  9. Thank you 81F; I take it you live around the Oxford area [going by the shed code] I found the Bing video very informative. Thanks to you all for replies. Steve.
  10. Thank you for your informative answer, it is the Railroad model R2937. I shall take on what people have said, thank you all so much. Steve.
  11. I have a Lima class 50 [sir Edward Elgar] number 205140A5. Does anyone know where I can get a service sheet for this loco. Picked it up for £20, slightly noisy but good runner, thought of buying some new gears. Thought I'd look at sheet before dismantling etc. Many thanks, Steve.
  12. Thanks for answering, I'll give it a try tomorrow, Steve.
  13. Hornby County of Cornwall. Having had this for some years but not running it very often, I thought a service would be in order. Having serviced, now I'm having problems getting the grub screw to engage with the driving wheels screw. Sometimes it runs fine then as if it pops out for a couple of minutes and then can run again. I have really tried to get the angle right so that the 2 screws engage, but it's not 100% perfect. Has anybody had the same happening to them with this type of motor? Many thanks, Steve.
  14. "Going Spare" you were so right; sometime ago when I had this fault, I put the loco back in it's box wanting to forget about it. I couldn't sell it as my youngest daughter bought it for me for Xmas. Yesterday I took it out of the box and had a good look at it. I gave it a bit of a service and it ran better but not perfect, cleaning the wheels I noticed that one of the engine tyres was missing, so this could have been one of the things that stopped the loco running properly and slow speeds around 2nd radius curves. I do feel a bit of an idiot writing first without checking the tender drive, this has taught me not to go from long term memory, but look first and then ask. But thank you for answering my dilemma.
